Hi,

I am trying to pass the shared variable value from the subreport to the main report.  The subreport is placed in the details-A section. This section is conditionally suppressed. I am now trying to pass this shared variable to the Dectails-B section. But when the Details-A is suppressed, I am not getting any value in the Details-B section. Please suggest a better way how I could pass this value across the suppression barrier.

Regards

when a section that has a subreport in it is suppressd the subreport will not run at all.
Suppress all of the fields in the subreport and then suppress details A when it is blank. It will still run the sub-report but suppress the section as well.

Thanks for your reply.
I know that when a section is suppressed the variable cannot be passed over to the next section. But I was wondering if there could be any possibility where although the section is conditionally suppressed, yet the value is passed over...any remote answers in this case...

I am not sure I understand your question.
You can still get a value from a subreport in a 'hidden' section where it is set to 'suppress blank section' becasue it has to run through everything to see if it is 'blank'.
So if you conditionally suppress all of the fields in the section (not the subreport though) and set the section to 'suppress blank section' then you still get the shared variable passed and teh section is not visable.
Is that what you are looking for?

the last part of my last post was how to do it...
