     Posted: 14 Mar 2011 at 1:09am
Hi,

I have a subreport that is not linked with the main report.The subreport has a parameter feild.BUT,when i run my report the parameter for the subquery is not being asked and the particular report is displayed empty.

I want
1)subreport to prompt its parameter to me

subreport has this query->select a,b,c where a=<prompt>

2)And i want to know if there is any way since 'a' is a prompt in main report too and the value has to be same for both main report and subreport,which the user inputs.
So my question is, i want a single prompt for a which should be used by the main report and subreport.

Thanking you in advance,
Madhura.

link the subreport to the main report.  make the parameter for the main report link to the parameter in the subreport.

Try this:

1.  Take the prompt out of the subreport.
2.  Link from the prompt in the main report to the appropriate field in the subreport.  This will feed the prompt from the main report to the subreport without requiring the user to re-enter the value.
