Let us consider the logic involved.
To determine whether a record is a duplicate or not, you must be able to determine whether another record with the same criteria exists.
With suppress duplicate, you would check whether the current record is the same as the previous (or the next), and if so, suppress it (same "name", same "ID", perhaps same "name" AND "ID", etc)
On the other hand, you can simply negate this logic so that if it is NOT a duplicate, suppress it.
In both cases, you will need to find a way to order your data otherwise it would be rather difficult to deal with things. You would most likely sort your data based on the criteria in which you wish to suppress non-duplicate values.
