Hello,

I am having one main report & one subreport
subreport display last transaction (date & amount) for the customers(either supplier or customer depend upon selected "S" OR "C" in parameter fields).
Due to large amount of data, performance of report is very slow ie It takes minutes to fetch the Data from database.
Is There any other method for this.
Please reply its urgent .

create a stored proc that returns all the fields needed, and remove the subreport...it requires an extra hit to the database.  Use the stored proc to determine the last transaction.

Thanks for the reply...
Is is possible to use stored procedure only for the given sub report?

you could, but it won't necessarily increase performance.

If you have 100 lines of details, with a subreport, the report will connect to the database 101 times, irrespective of the method of retrieving the data.  Depending on the network, and how much data it needs to sift through, this can degrade performance.

If you get all the data, for the details AND for the subreport, it will hit the database once.  It might mean having to restructure your report, by this I mean that what are detail lines now, might become group footers or group header(as you only want to see them, but the subreport data makes multiples) and moving the subreport into the detail section.

It all depends on size of data.  Again, I get all my data from a stored proc.  While I haven't, you might try bringing out 2 tables from the stored proc and linking them in CR instead of everything in 1 table.  It doesn't really matter how you accomplish it, what you are after is hitting the database as few times as possible.
