     Posted: 08 Nov 2010 at 7:53am
Hello, i am trying to create a report in Crystral Reports 2008 and im having a problem.

When i pull a datafield from [tableA] and one from [tableB] and i place them in a "Report"all the data is not used, i only get a report thats 45 pages long. And it stops at a date of 2007

But if i just pull data from [tableA] i get all the data the 150 pages. And the date of 2010 (a few days ago) Same works if i just pull data from [tableB] i also get its full 120 pages and the date of 2010 (a few days ago). They just dont work together?

Is there something that im missing when pulling data from 2 tables and creating a single report?

Any help would be appreciated!

I dont fully understand what you mean by that so ill give a step by step of how i am creating the report...

1. File -> new -> Standard Report
2. Expand [mydbname] Expand [mytablename]
3. Select The 2 Tables I want [tableA] and [tableB]
4. Click Next

This is what i think you wanted to know but each table has it seperate fields and they match eg:

[tableA] [field0]  has a line to [tableB] [field0]
then there are a few fields that i dont need to use in the report and another line is drawn between the tables.

I dont fully understand how to change this to make the tables show all their records.

Is it at all possible that we could webex:
http://www.webex.com/ or something

outside of crystal do you understand what happens when you join tables on fields as inner or outer joins?

No

Edit:

Note that we are not joining tables we are just trying to read data from 2 tables and place them in a single report.

harder to explain but I will try.
in your description
...
[tableA] [field0]  has a line to [tableB] [field0]
...
this is where the data from one table is used to join to the data in the other table (specifaclly using field0). It will bring into the report a row whenever it matches the fields in both tables.  So if table A has 250 rows but only matches 15 rows that are in table B, you only will get 15 rows of data.
How to fix your problem is harder to say as I do not understand your data set up nor what you are trying to accomplish.

Yes, that makes sense but the data stops at 2007 but when reports are run indivudally they have data up to 2010

To make things a little more clear [tableA] holds [firstname] and [lastname] and [tableB] holds [idnumber]

each [firstname] and [lastname] has several [idnumber]s attached to it we want to display them like so:

[lastname] [firstname] [idnumber]

When only displaying [lastname] and [firstname] - pulled from [tableA] it works
When trying to pull [idnumber] and [firstname] [lastname] we only get data up till 2007

OK.
To further complicate things crystal does not enforce the join automatcically.
the join gets enforced if you force it int he set up or when you use fields from both tables in the join.
hence
...
When only displaying [lastname] and [firstname] - pulled from [tableA] it works
When trying to pull [idnumber] and [firstname] [lastname] we only get data up till 2007
....
You can change your join from an inner join to an outer join so that you select all records from table A regardless of a matching row in table B.
