I have a report that has a sub report...I have used the shared number function to bring the totals from the sub report over to the main report.  Is there a way now to use that shared number in a formula?  for example: My main report has a total number or arrests, my subreport has a total number of arrests for a different time period.  I want to figure % change between the two totals...Any ideas?  Thanks!

absolutely.
just declare the shared variable in the formula, and use how you want, like:

shared numbervar arrests;

if arrests > 0 then
  x
else
 y;
