Hello Folks,
I have a report with data coming off from a oracle database and also from an Excel Worksheet. we have a field called Group Code coming from the oracle database and also from Excel. My requirement is to compare the Group Code field from Oracle db and compare with Excel. If there are any matching i dont want to display them. I want to show which are not matching and from the oracle db. How to acheive this? Outer join or something. Thanks a lot.

an outer join would be perfect fort this but I do not beleive that Excel tables allow you to use that join type.
given the join limitation the only thing that comes to mind is to union the 2 togther and include a field that identifies the source for the row
group on the code field
create a formula for countng the ones from excel (using the new source code column mentioned above)
if sourcecode='excel' then 1 else 0
sum that at the group level and then excude anythiung that is >0 using the group selection criteria

Hi Dblank Thanks for getting back. Well actually i have the left outer join option available in the Database Expert Links part. But for some reason am missing around 20 records. Looking at the other work around that you have mentioned. If i understood correctly performing an union between 2 fields? Is it creating a new formula by using '&' between the 2 fields and group on that field?

Thanks

See if you can get the outer join to work. I do not think the UNion idea will work. As I think about it I have only created unions within the same database connection as that is where the command object resides. Therefore I think the idea of the union will nopt function. If you got the outer join to work maybe a tweak will fix it.

What are the missing objects that you mentioned?

The outer join worked fine. I think there was some human error while checking. Thank you.
