I used to use dataset as CR datasource and convert to PDF.
It works fine.
Now, I created a CR which datasource is a store procedure.
How to convert it to PDF?

it is same process.
create new report using Stored Procedure (SP) and put any fields as you need.
and convert it to PDF. done.

if you using programming (.net, etc.) better attach the existing report into your project.
and you can convert it to .rpt, .xls, .doc and .rtf.

at least, it work for me.

hope it help.
