Quote crist Replybullet Topic: Setting Parameter
     Posted: 28 Jun 2010 at 9:54pm
Dear Expert,

i have 2 query, can you please help.
1. My parameter is by Supplier Code.
And my supplier is under subsidiary ledger type as below:
agent-0
customer-1
suppplier 2
person-3

therefore, my supplier =2 and set the type as 2 in select expert
But when i tried to do slect expert for supplier, it shows all type of ledgers, suppose to be only supplier.

2. supplier list are incomplete. I set this as string and with range. so that users can select from and to suppliers they want.
i set the parameters to supplier but when i append all values its until supplier starting with C only, it should be until W, right?

Please help urgently.

Many thanks,
Crist

still confuse w/ your questions...

but correct me if i'm wrong.
1. you can edit your selection formula with:
    {tbl.subsidary}=2 and {tbl.supplierID}={paramsuplierID?}
it will restricted where the subsidary is '2' (for supplier) and the SupplierID is the one that you search.

2. if you want to get all supplier data by leaving the params blank (xfrom and xto), you can follow the solutions from other topics (subject is 'If Else Formula', here is the link http://www.crystalreportsbook.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10072)

hope it help.

can you give us an example for supplier list that you have (e.g.:abc001, ades003, klmn020, zzdk011, etc.)?

did you set your params as 'dynamic'?

if 'yes' then you need to select the proper field in order for Users to select.

if 'not' then you can follow the link that i suggest.

hope it help.

dear Crist,

i'm testing on my local with SOPheader and SOPdetail table.
where in SOPheader i've custname.
and i'm creating dynamic parameter for custname with these setting:
- ascending value
- allow multiple values : false
- allow discrete values : false
- allow range values : true

and i'm able to see all the Custname from 'A' to 'Z'.

as you said on point 2 that '.. supplier list are incomplete..'.
so, how complete it is?  from A-C, other sequence or random?

just make sure that you can see all your supplier list (A-Z) directly from your SQL.

because CR will only print/preview data based on table/SP/View with some conditions/restrictions.
- if the result incorrect, check the conditions/restrictions/parameters.
and remove it if necessary.

- if it still incorrect, after removing all conditions/restrictions/params, then check the data it self in SQL (links, where clause if any, etc.).

hope it help.

dear emir,
I only used 1 table for this report. and there no links created with other tables.

when i ran to print preview all my suppliers are there, same as cross tab and details report - where the figures are perfect. The thing is, when i used my parameter to select the ranges of supplier, it doesnt show me all the list which is stopped to the last of "C", the rest are not in the list. this so strange, right?

Please be advise that my parameter is only for account number which you advise i need to delete that one and create in formula, right..

i do not have any restrictions in my parameters and formula.

Other things is, the database im working on is until march 2010 but the transaction i can retrieve is only until may20,2009! which is not also correct.

Please help me.... i am working for 2 weeks on this until now it is not yet settled.

thanks,
crist

first, make sure data in table are correct
if it's result from stored procedure (SP) then check the SP.
if it's table from the system then .. just use it (what to do Smile ).

let's fix it 1 by 1.
as you said, if you run the print preview, without any params, it shows all supplier. but when you put a range params it gives you only supplier started with 'C'.
--> change your param without range (only 1 specific supplier)
and try to run the report with all possibility (supplier started with A, C, K, etc.).
--> if it work then change the param with range and test it again.

if those steps fix your issue then we move to crosstab.
