I have a crosstab report that gives locations at the top and dates on the side. I have 8 locations and I would like every other location column and data below to be background colored so it makes it easier to read. Not sure how to do that.

If these items are static
right click on one field (row cell)
select Highlight expert
New
value of row field
is equal to
whichever field you want to make highlighted
background color= your color
repeat for each item

Thanks again. I was hoping there was some type of section setting for columns on Crosstabs like you have for horizontal section on a standard report, but this worked for my purposes.

Note: if you have not done so already  try...
right click on the CT
select Grid Options
Uncheck 'SHow Cell Margins'
 
Makes the highlighter fill in the whole box and is a much cleaner look
