Having a bit of trouble with crystal reports and the crystal reports viewer.

First off we have our own Point of Sale software which uses crystal reports for all our invoices, estimates, stock / sales reporting etc (about 180 in total).
This includes different sizes for receipt, labels and of course A4.

The problem has been happening randomly and i cant think what can be causing it.

Basically after printing an invoice (at random, it dosent happen every time) the page whether coming out of a receipt or a4 printer will cut to about 1/3. After it does this we can go into the crystal reports viewer and it will only show 1/3 of the page, obviously if we try print another invoice or any other report it will do the same. Finally to resolve we have to close our program down and start up again and it will be fine until it happens again.

Things ive tried:

Changing page size on the reports and in the printer settings.

Different printers and drivers.

Had the devolpers to look at the code.

I should mention also that "No Printer" is selected for all of the reports.

Im thinking maybe some of the infomation being sent to the report can trigger something to change the page size?

Also strange that it goes to 1/3 of a4 and its only vertically aswell.

Sorry if this is abit hard to understand but any help would be appriciated

EDIT:
Ive also had it do the same thing in crystal reports while editing the report FYI

Since it happens in the design viewer too I would suspect there is something in the report that is forcing it.

Can you replicate the error consistently be selecting a certain record (or records) that seem to cause it?

thanks for the reply.

our whole problem is that we cant replicate the error,  im thinking that something in the infomation eg. part no, desc, address thats getting sent to the report is maybe triggering something to change the size.

Ill keep trying to reproduce.

I have noticed that in the crystal viewer some fields would become wider to accomidate the string length (not set to can grow for wrapping but rather extending the right hand side of the field).Perhaps something similar is happening for you.
Here are a few ideas to try.
1. You can try and set all the fields to can grow so they would wrap down. I know that will cause other issues but at least you might know what is not fitting.
2. Use left(field, length) formulas for any field you think might push over the width to make sure it does not.
3. Count the string length of fields you suspect and call those int he report to see if you can force the error.
4. Try and trim all the fields as sometimes users like to throw a lot of spaces or carriage returns into fields.

These are all guesses as I have not personnaly had this error but maybe it will help...
