I have a cr designed to generate mailing labels. The report works great until one of the fields grows to the right and screws up the rest of the labels on the page.
Is there a way to limit the results of the filed for the problem string? I have tried a few functions and for the life of me I can not figure out the syntax. Perhaps there is some sort fo logic that would shrink the size of the field based on how many characters are in the string.

You can limit the size of the field by creating a formula and using the left function (i.e., left({stringfield}, #of characters desired)). If you have any null strings, then you will need to check for the null first.
If not(isnull({stringfield})) then left({stringfield}, #of characters desired)
