I am running Crystal reports 2008 on my windows xp computer. We are pulling the data from a SAWS server running linux. Most of my reports run faily fast, but a new report is taking hours and i know its not frozen. Is there anyway to speed up the calculations. I saw an option stating to do the grouping on the server and then my coworker said if i am using formulas that those are not done by the server by my PC. So if my PC isnt blazing fast is this affecting my reports??

it depends.  you could mimic the formula logic in a stored proc, it could also be the number of rows, how many tables are involved, joins, etc.  If it is a stored proc, how long does it take to run on the server?  If the tables are heavily used and there is a lot of filtering the tables could be getting locked. How long does it take to run on someone else's machine?

Obviously, there are a whole host of issues that could be happening.... and there just isn't enough info to point in any direction.

Hi may be your report is fetching detail data. Try to sumarize at command level. Now even if you are using formulas it will not much effect the performance coz formulas are performed on the data at report level. So it is suggested to summarize at server and fetch less number of record in the report.
