The only way I could see that happening if you had a dummy value that was put into the detail section that would always be displayed.  You cannot suppress it, but you could change the text color to match the background.

You might want to try creating a formula that is like this:

if isNull (invoice.date)
then 0
else " "

This will show a blank if there is a date...and a 0 if there is not a date. You can then place this field on top of your count field in the Details section, or where you are doing the counts.

 I hope that helps.

Ok i took your formula

if isNull (invoice.date)
then 0
else " "

1.  it won't accept " " it requires a # there. so i placed the invoice.saleamt as a place holder

I do not have any groups at the moment on this...but its not showing 0 for places where an invoice does not exist.

try setting up a group based on (invoice.date) you can set it to group on moth.

then for the formula ... try

if isNull (invoice.date)
then "0"
else " "

(the reason you got the error is because I forgot the quotes. )

This will only show a 0 if the (invoice.date) does not exist.

page header: text titles
G1 = invoice.date, monthly
details contain the invoice.#, invoice.date, invoice.saleamt
report footer contains sum invoice.# count, sum invoice.saleamt

i place the formula in G1, and it returns blanks

But it still doesnt become a place holder for the other months.

Maybe my question was unclear...I would like th report to show:

Invoice Date              Invoice #         Invoice $
Jan 2009                    13                      2566
Feb 2009                    0                           0
Mar 2009                   99                       2555
April 2009                   4                        33333
May 2009                    0                       0

Currently it is showing:

Invoice Date              Invoice #         Invoice $
Jan 2009                    13                      2566
Mar 2009                   99                       2555
April 2009                   4                        33333

Ahh I see...so it appear that there are no enteries for Febuary ( in your example), yet you want it to display Feb as a group with 0 values ....

The formula I gave you won't work for that.  Off hand, I can't think of anything that will force the group to show with no entries.
