OK, let me see if I can explain this without confusing myself and others in the process. My current report looks something like this :

(Shift 1)
    (Area 1)     (Count of incidents in area 1)
    (Area 2)     (Count of incidents in area 2)
(Shift 2)
    (Area 1)     (Count of incidents in area 1)
    (Area 2)     (Count of incidents in area 2)
.
.
.

The person that wants this report also wants to show a total for each area at the bottom of the report, regardless of shift :

(Shift 1)
    (Area 1)     (Count of incidents in area 1)
    (Area 2)     (Count of incidents in area 2)
(Shift 2)
    (Area 1)     (Count of incidents in area 1)
    (Area 2)     (Count of incidents in area 2)

(Area 1)    (Total of incidents in area 1)
(Area 2)    (Total of incidents in area 2)

This seems like it should be simple, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to accomplish this. Any ideas?

Create 2 formulas
FormulaArea1-> if {Incident area} = 'area 1' then 1
FormulaArea2-> if {Incident area} = 'area 2' then 1

create 2 summary fields, sum of FormulaArea1 and Sum Of FormulaArea2 and place them in Report header..

Sorry, I figured out how to do it after I posted this. I ended up placing a cross-tab in the report footer.

I have a very similar application:

Item Categories  Totaled for a YTD Amount
  Broken Down by Month with a Total for the Month

Mangement wants to see a Total of all Item Categories for each month.

How do I set up a formula adding these up from the grouping?

Thank you for any assistance with this.
