Hi,

I'm doing a report that require indexing. I know i can do that by create a new Running Total Field at select the summary type as count. However, the result only appear for numeric.

Can Crystal come out something for example:-
a.
b.
c.

instead of
1.
2.
3.

Please advise. Thank you

you can create a formula to do that.  I would probably use a shared variable as a number and increment it as need then display the ChrW() value...65 = A

Hi Lock,

Thanks for the reply. Does it mean i require to do a very LONG if..else statement for this solution. Is there any shorter way ? Smile

Where do you want this indexing? for the data in details section?

no need of LONG if - else..write 2 formulas

1. Formula to Initialize and place in RH
        Shared numbervar ch:=65;
2. for Indexing
        Shared numbervar ch ;
        if Onfirstrecord then
            ch
        else
            ch:=ch+1;
        Chrw(ch);
Place it in Details

Jyothi is correct, just the 2 formulas are needed. Depending on your report, and how you want it indexed, you might want to move the Reseting of the variable to another band...many times I have it in a Group Header band, this way each group starts over, but it is the same basic idea.
