Hi all,

I am a network admin who has inherited the joy of developing a report to track employee time.  I have crystal reports setup to access our badge system database, but I do not know the right formula to use to calculate employee time for a given day.  I have the employee name, date, and time fields setup and accessible in crystal reports.  The database has the columns: Name    Date      Time             So for each In or Out scan in the facility you get a new entry. An employee generally has 4 scans per day counting lunch.  My manager does not want to account for lunches and instead wants a report that shows: date, the employee name, and total hours worked for the day or (last scan minus first scan).  What would be the best method to build this report.

***Keep in mind I've never used Crystal Reports and that I appreciate in advice that you give.  Thanks!!!!

If you are mor comfortable using DBs I would create a view or stored proc to make one row with the min and max values per worker perday. IF not and assuming these records are allways on the same day (no over midnight), group the day and then the worker. create a formula fieldito be placed in group footer2 using a datediff formula on the min and max values of the time field

something like...
datediff("n",minimum(table.datefield),maximum(table,datefield))

Hi, Great to know about your profile which is indeed interesting.

Time Tracking has been of great use for businesses for better and profitable project management. I had seen so many businesses incapable of getting productive results due to inefficient project time tracking.

We had been looking for a time tracking solution even and then started with Replicon's time tracking product suite. It is so simple and fast to use with great features and no worries at work for project managers. Application can be accessed online in a browser without hassles!
