How many records?  Seems awfully long for an export....how long does the report take to run?

There are 3526 records. the procedure runs in 10 min... and waits for 20 min to show all the pages... so totally it takes 30 min to run the report... some times while exporting i am getting "page can not be displayed" error also... the report is called from an application. when i run the report from Crystal report... it finishes quickly and export is also done quickly...with in 10 min
pls help...

There aren't that many records, and to take 10 minutes just to return the data, sounds like you are combing through a huge number of records, and to take 20 minutes to display, again implies that the report is very complex...I would suspect subreports, perhaps several.

Subreports can kill a report's performance as they are an additional hit to the database.

Also is the report joining to the tables or is it running a stored proc.  I always advise a stored proc; a) more flexible in what you can do, b) it runs in SQL which is optimized for set based data manipulation, instead of Crystal that basically reads the data one line at a time and changes things/accumulates them.

There are no sub reports. the report runs based on the stored proc. there is only 1 stored procedure. when i run through crystal report the report is fetching the data quickly, but when i run it through application the crystalreportviewer waits for 30 min and then shows the data

Sorry, haven't seen this behavior before.

Maybe someone else has a solution.
