hi all,

i am using crystal XI and i have to create a sales report like an excel spreadsheet and have no clue how to do it if someone could give me some pointers it would be great.

i need it to look something like this, in the main part of the report nothing in grouping is required

                 john       joe       tom           total

milk                5           1          2               8
bread             5           1          4             10
butter             5          1           6             12

 total              15        3          12

thanks in advance

Katie.

I would suggest putting borders on all of the fields of the report and making each field align with the ones on either side....it will look like cells on a spreadsheet.

Also (depending on the data) a Cross Tab is a simple viable solution.
Add the crosstab to your report header or footer,
Set your column as Name field (JOhn,Joe, Tom, etc.)
Set your Row as Food field (MIlk, bread, butter, etc.)
SUmmarized Field I am not sure because I do not know how you are getting your numbers. It may be a count of a field, or the sum of a numeric field. If you need help with that part you can post a little sample of the raw data and we can generally tell you how to set the summary.

No worries...just note that if your source data looks like this first table you are fine with lockwelle's process:

Food Item John Joe Tom
Milk 5 1 2
Bread 5 1 4
Butter 5 1 6

If your source data is more like the below image you will want the crosstab solution:
Food Item Name Amount
Milk John 5
Milk Joe 1
Milk Tom 2
Bread JOhn 5
Bread Joe 1
Bread Tom 4
Butter John 5
