I have a group that has three sets of values MBA, EMBA and a group that is a combination of the first two MBA-EMBA. I also have formulas that sum table fields. When I try to use the Sigma or sum function and reset for a change in the group the formula fields do not even show up in the Crystal sum dialog box or in the Running Total Fields dialog box. How can I reset my formulas fields when the group changes?

ThanksOuch

You state you have formulas that SUM table fields are these sums on a row or more than 1 row.
You cannot use summarized fields in another summary (e.g. SUM of a GRoup SUM for a Total SUM). My guess is that your fiormula fields are doing a summary and therefore will not apper in for use in in either the Insert Summary or Running Totals options.
YOu may still be able to use the RT to get your numbers but you will need to rethink how.

The sums are for more than 1 row. That is what I thought that I can't sum a formula that is already summing. Is there a way to assign the value of the summary to a different formula field and then sum that value?Ouch

Nope-it is still a sum of a sum.
Post some sample row data and how you want to calculate it (and how you have it grouped). There is almost always a way to do what you want.

What about putting a condition on the group band which should limit the records to a spcific value?

Also, what about putting a condition on the formula field itself so that it sums or counts based on the value of the condition. If this is possible how would you do it?Dead

What you are describing is best accomplished using a Running Total or a Formula using variables. YOu can put conditions into either of these to incldue or exclude data but you cannot use it to SUM a SUM. You can also create formulas to convert row level data to a number or a zero then sum that.
Again if you post sample data and how you need it calculated someone will generally walk you through a process to do this.
