I have a user in Crystal that wants to export a report to excel and wants the columns to show up in Excel. How do you set up this functionality in Crystal so when the user exports the report it will be in columns in Excel?

Thanks
Lucy

Export to Excel...not the data only option.  If you have already done this, then I don't know.  the options in Crystal XI for export to Excel seem pretty good, but it does have glitches...data doesn't always end in the correct column, why, I don't know, you can fix it by using Constant column width, but you end up with a zillion columns.

I have already exported to Excel & the data is not formatted in columns. There has to be some setting in Crystal that you set in the report. I will have to research further.

it has to be in columns, it's Excel.  If your report is not in columns, the file won't be.  Crystal will export the data based on what the report looks like.

Even then, it might get confused and not everything will line up in the correct column.  Using the option to have a constant column width will get all the data to align correctly in the correct column, but you will end up with A LOT of columns as the column size becomes like a letter wide.

Again, Crystal is going to format the Excel file like your report, it won't magically put data into columns if they weren't in columns to start.
