I have a group of work order number. I also have a group of work order task numbers.  For each Work order there has to be at least one Task and there can be an infinite number of tasks. Also task numbers do not necesarily have to start with 1. for example

WO# 111111111
  TSK# 1
  TSK# 2
  TSK# 4
WO# 123456123
  TSK# 3
  TSK# 5
  TSK# 90

My question is how can i code crystal to do a new page before on work order id when the task is the first in the record group. In the example above how can i say new page before WO# 123456123 When TSK# equals the first in that record group which here is 3?

perhaps I misunderstand, but it sounds like you want a new page for each WO#...irrespective of TSK#.

If so, simply go to the 'section expert', find the group that is WO# and check 'New Page Before', if you don't want a blank page at the start of the report, don't check the box, but click on 'x-2' and in the formula editor enter: Not OnFirstRecord

Click Ok to save

I don't think that you can do a page break the way you want in the detail section.

Make them a group and you can.  If the TSK is all the detail that you want to display in the report, suppress the detail section.

There are actually about 10 detail reports. would i just need to make all of those part of the same group and put them all in group sections?

This is tough to say. Honestly, I don't know enough about the report, but you are looking for TSK#, are there different TSK# displayed on each of the different detail sections?  If they all are for the same TSK#, then yes, create a new group.  You can suppress the group (you don't have to see it) for the page break to work.  If each of the different detail sections represents a different TSK#, I would probably still create a new group, but there may be some other criteria to the report that would be violated, so it depends on what the report needs.

Hope this helped

This worked.  I had to add some conditional statements to the new page after function but after that it worked flawlessly.  Putting the reports in a group was a great idea.

Thanks for your help   Big%20smile
