I have a subreport in the header of one of my reports.

However, if the subreport has a lot of data in it, it will 'blead over' the column headings in the header.

How can I stop this so that the relative positions of the titles in the header are always just below the bottom of the sub report?

TIA

Add an extra header (page header B), place the column headings in that. Set sub report as can group which will just push the section below it down lower as needed and prevent any overlapping.
