Topic: formatting chart axes Posted: 06 Mar 2009 at 7:13am |
|
hi,
im wondering how to format the axes on a bar chart.
on my chart, the bars will only have integers (ie 1,2,3,4,5,etc). there will not be any decimal values (1.2,1.4,1.6, etc).
how do i format the axes of the chart so that it only displays integers (as the bars that i am displaying on the chart are based on whole integers (1,2,3,4,etc).
thanks

I think htis should work...
in the deisgn view in the chart
click on any of the values to highlight it
Right click and select "Data (y) Axis settings"
Select the numbers tab
Set your decimals to "0"

Hmmm,
I have v11.
What about a "Format Axis Label" option and the number tab there.
If not since I don't have v10, try looking at the different options to select when you right click on the number to see if it buried in anything there.
Anyone with v10 now where it is set to?

The 'format axis label' option only appears when i right-click on a label in the legend.
when i right-click, the options i get are:
'save template as' 'size and position' 'auto arrange chart' 'chart options': in this there is a 'grid' option. in this it lets me format the number, but the numbers are already on 'general'. the 'general' format being 12345.
apart from this, i cant see nothing

may not be an option in V10...
A few thoughts.
1.Is there a formula option near the setting the numbers to 'general' that you can specify it to?
2. If this is a SUM and not a count maybe you can use a formula field to convert the data you are using to to strip the decimals out then sum on the formula instead of the original field and that might roll up to the chart?
3. Under File > Options >Format editor tab clcik on Number field and alter the default display there.
Just some ideas...

Right click on one of the axis labels. There should be a "grids and scales" dialog option. Choose that and then go the numeric formatting tab for the Y1 axis. Choose NUMERIC formatting and set decimal precision to 0.
