Hope I am posting in the right place.
I am using Crystal 8.5

I have a subreport in the details section of the main report, the sub report calculate the total weight for each detail line on a delivery note. At the bottom of the total weight coloum I want the grand total for all the items on the delivery note. When I insert the the grand total or subTotal option on the subreport, it gives me the grand total for each detail line and not for all the lines together.

I am new to Crystal and would appreciate the help
Thank you.

The main report and sub reports should be linked. And this process can be achieved either by creating a parameter field or without it.
  1. Select the sub report and goto edit menu and click on sub-report links.
  2. On the available field choose the field you want to link to the sub-report, whose detail you want to produce in sub-report. In your case say detail note.
  3. Then click on > button, to add to fields to link to.
  4. Once the field is listed click on it.
  5. At the bottom section you might notice two parts
    • - subreport parameter field to use
    • select data on subreport based on field.
  6. Select the field from main report to link with subreport. If the subreport has the field with same name then the "select data on subreport based on field" check box is automatically checked and the field from subreport is automatically selected from the combo box. If the field names are different just check the checkbox and select the field to be linked with main report. This automatically creates a parameter field in subreport. To have a look edit subreport and see the list of parameter fields from field explorer.
  7. If you have already created a parameter field in sub-report, to link to main report then you can follow the same instructions as above but choose the parameter field name. With parameter field you could do more.
I might not have been clearer in this case. But as a whole what i wanted to make you clear is that you need to create a link between main report and sub-report. And this can be done by following above steps. If you have created a parameter field then its ok. otherwise you can simply choose the field names in main report If you have already done this but still the problem persisted then let me know again.

Do not forget to mark it answered if it has answered your query.
