Quote kristal Replybullet Topic: Report Total in the Report Header
     Posted: 23 Jul 2008 at 12:53am
I have a simple print form of a Purchase Order, which has the Purchase Order Value printed in the Report Footer. The 'total' field being a formula which adds invidual PO Line amounts. Line amount is basically a computation of Qty with Price.
The requirement is to maintain the PO Total in the Report Header section in addition to the standard footer total. Whats the simplest way out ?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thx

From your post we know you're using the Report Header section but what other sections are you using in your report? Are you grouping in any way?

If your outermost group is the Purchase Order Number, then I would move all of the header information out of the report header and into that group.  If you don't already have it, create a formula for the extended amount, which is the quantity times the price.  Then create a "Summary" (click on the Sigma [large E] button) that is the sum of this formula for the Purchase Order group.  Move this summary from the group footer to the group header.  Your value should now appear in the header information for the report.

Thx for the feedback. My issue has been sorted out.
But this has lead to another.
The Total actually has been placed in the first Group Header. This prints just after the Page header is printed.

The issue im grappling with is to print the 'Total' only on Page 1.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

There are a couple of ways you can do this.  The easiest is to probably put a suppression formula on the total object.  Right-click on the total and select Properties.  DO NOT click on the check-box for Suppress, instead click on the button to the right of it and enter the following formula:

PageNumber <> 1
