     Posted: 02 Jul 2008 at 6:42am
I am new to using Crystal Reports and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has had experience with parsing a string field.  For example, say I had a string field that contain the following data:

Beehive (1.01)[delimiter]JSF (1.0)[delimiter]JSF (1.2)[delimiter]JSP (2.0)[delimiter]JSR 170 (1.0)[delimiter]JSTL (1.1)[delimiter]Struts (1.1)[delimiter]Struts (1.2)[delimiter]WSRP (1.0)[delimiter]WSRP (2.0)

I would like to print in Crystal Report everything except [delimiter]  Is there a way to do this within Crystal Reports?  Thanks!

Hi you can use the following

it is replacing your delimiter with spaces and trim removes the spaces from the field.... if you want to keep spaces don't use the Trim function

cheers

You'll have to create a new formula and using the trim(replace(...)) statement given above.  You'll then put the formula on the report instead of the field.
