I need to insert a new picture for each part record retreived from the database. Can anyone give me a hint as to where to start. Actually I'd prefer complete directions if you've done this before.

Thanks,

Are the graphics stored in the database?  If not, how do you determine which image to use?

The .jpg files are in a folder. The report is pulling records from a SQL database. The Item_no field is also the name of the .jpg.

Assuming you're using Crystal XI or 2008, go to the insert menu and select Picture.  Select a "default" image file.  Put the image in the appropriate place on your report and size it.

Right-click on the image, select "Format Graphic", and click on the Picture tab.  Click on the formula button for the Graphic Location.  Type in the path to your image files + {table.Item_No} + ".jpg" - you'll probably want to use a UNC path instead of a specific mapped drive so that this is generic enough to run from any machine.

Click on "Save and Close", click on OK.  Run your report.

We are currently on Crystal Reports X. Following your directions I find there is no formula button under the picture tab in "Format Graphic". Will we have to upgrade to XI to make it work?

Yes.  The button was added with XI.
