way late, and perhaps this will help someone...
Use To_Date in the command, that should fix that part.

You also need to link the subreport parameter to the main report value. This is done via the Change SubReport Link...right click the subreport and you should see it.
SP 20 is the current release and SP 21 is supposed to be available toward the end of this month. SAP tries to release them about quarterly. It used to be that SAP would show the links for downloading a couple of versions prior to the current one, but they've added a new download site that no longer has that available. Just know that if you're using an older SP, if you run into any issues, SAP will ask you to upgrade to the latest.

The information you're looking for might be available through here: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports%2C+Developer+for+Visual+Studio+Downloads. In particular, look at the "Supported Platforms" document.

Dates in SQL command

Hi, I have a problem and I hope to find a solution...

I'm working on Crystal Reports 2008 with an Oracle database. In the report is a SQL-command (a complicated union) used. To prevent this command transferring all the data from the server I have

- moved this logic to a sub-report to be able to use parameters

- introduced some parameters in main-report to carry on DateTime

- created corresponding parameters to the sub-report

I tested this by placing those parameters in the sub-report header, they print just fine.

Now, I'm trying to modify the SQL-command. I have added a where-clause to test the date like this ... WHERE STARTTIME>={ts '{?PmBeginTime}'}

The trouble is, when I click OK, the sub-report prompts to give PmBeginTime (it shouldn't do this?)

The worst thing here is this: although I have defined in options/fields of the sub-report that the dateTimes and dates must be in ISO-format (yyyy-mm-dd), the prompt does not accept anything but yyyy/mm/dd -format. If I give the dates in this format Oracle database returns an error. In either case, my parameters disappear and the sql command resets to the previous state.

How should I give those dateTime-parameters to it?

You need to specify to max on the provider group.

maximum({Command.lastappt},{Command.provider})

This is how my data looks:

635584 8/10/2012 Family Medicine Ba NP
635584 4/18/2013 Family Medicine Egan MD
635584 3/17/2014 Women's Health Prenatal Registration
635584 6/2/2014 Family Medicine Matathia
635584 8/5/2014 Women's Health Forman CNM

I want to only pull the latest appointment which was 8/5/14, I created the formula:
maximum({Command.lastappt}) and was able to do just that!

but I also got the providers too...

635584 8/5/2014 Family Medicine Ba NP
635584 8/5/2014 Family Medicine Egan MD
635584 8/5/2014 Women's Health Prenatal Registration
635584 8/5/2014 Family Medicine Matathia
635584 8/5/2014 Women's Health Forman CNM

So I went ahead and did this...
maximum({Command.lastappt}) & " " & {Command.provider}
and it gave me the same results.

It works the same way even if I group by Provider. What's the best approach?

Thanks in advance!

Normally you have to take it one piece at a time. Best thing is as you run into issues, ask for help (fyi: The web is a great source of information).

I know way late...but shared variables or running totals would be the answer.

shared variables come in groups of 3 formulas usually:
reset (group header)
shared numbervar s:=0;
"" //hides the 0 from the formula

increment (details)
shared numbervar s;
if {table.field1} > some criteria then
s := s + {table.field2};

"" //hides the output

display (group footer)
shared numbervar s

I know it is late, but perhaps it will help in the future.
The locations: group header/footer and detail are just suggestions/most typical locations for these formulas.
