I am having trouble debugging the following issue:
We have an old VB6 (legacy system) that uses Crystal Reports Viewer 10.
For some reason when I connect and run, I get the report(s) and have no issue, but when a user connects to the SAME machine and uses the exact same connection credentials, when we test:

If crwDatabaseTable.TestConnectivity = False Then

this fails for him but not me.

Here is the actual code used:

Set mcrwReport = New CRAXDRT.Report
Set mcrwReport = mvarCRApplicationObject.OpenReport(mvarLocation & mvarFileName)
Set crwDatabase = mcrwReport.Database

Set colDatabaseTables = New Collection

For inttable = 1 To crwDatabase.Tables.Count
colDatabaseTables.Add Item:=crwDatabase.Tables.Item(inttable)
Next inttable

Set crwDatabaseTable = colDatabaseTables(1)

'***New connection settings
With crwDatabaseTable
.ConnectionProperties.DeleteAll
.ConnectionProperties.Add ("Server"), mvarParent.ServerName
.ConnectionProperties.Add ("Database"), mvarParent.ServerName
.ConnectionProperties.Add ("DSN"), mvarParent.ServerName
.ConnectionProperties.Add ("User ID"), mvarParent.User ID
.ConnectionProperties.Add ("Password"), mvarParent.Password
' **** user ID and password are generic ID/pwd ***
Call crwDatabaseTable.SetLogOnInfo(mvarParent.ServerName, "", mvarParent.UserId, mvarParent.Password)

If crwDatabaseTable.TestConnectivity = False Then
m_strErrors = "Log on to Server for Reports FAILED"
End If

Can someone assist?
We both use the same machine, which means it uses the same version of Crystal. The connection is using a generic ID and pwd, so it cannot be our individual IDs.
(note we each have to sign onto the XP machine with our own IDs to run the main application, then select the report option. which comes to this code)

Thanks!

Please upgrade to the latest version of Crystal for VS, which is SP 17. You can download it here: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824. Get the Install Executable for integration with VS. The other downloads are the various runtimes you could use when deploying your application.

In your code, I don't see where you ever load an actual .rpt file into the ReportDocument. This is what is causing your error.

try to get solution and follow what I have got from those site like :

1.

2.
Change
target CPU from any to 32 or 64

3.
Install
Service Pack CR_13_0_9

4.
Make sure
target framework to .Net Framework 4.5

5.
Install
service pack for CR

6.
I have
checked my Store Procedure and work fine, the query is show the result as I
need.

but still not solve the problem, how can I solved this error? Below is

Since it is a data base error. You have to make sure what ever database connection that you have on the local host is the same on the hosted site.
I am using Visual Basic 6 and Crystal Reports 8.5 and am having an issue with getting the SetLogOnInfo method to function with DSR files that have been created from Crystal Reports whose database location is set from a ODBC DSN to a MS SQLServerExpress 5.0 Database.

The following program code will not change the report's Database location using the following command:
crxReport.Database.Tables(1).SetLogOnInfo gstrDSN, "", DB_User, DB_Password
When the crxReport.Database.Tables(1).Location value is viewed in the VB6 development environment it has a value which includes the ServerName.dbo.tablename (from the value set in the original Crystal Report).
example: DBTest1.dbo.Vendors

This error does not occur when the underlying report's database location is set to an ODBC DSN to a MS Access database.
In this instance the above code successfully switches the report's database location to whatever SQLServerExpress or MS Access database is listed in the referenced DSN.
When the crxReport.Database.Tables(1).Location value is viewed in the VB6 development environment it has a value of just the tablename.
example: Vendors

I have seen some documents which discuss using a tables Connection Properties in examples for Crystal Reports 9.0 - I do not see these properties for tables in Crystal 8.5.

I do not know why the SetLogOnInfo method is not switching the Report database connection with DSR files that have been created from Crystal Reports whose database location is set from a ODBC DSN to a MS SQLServerExpress 5.0 Database.

Would anyone with knowledge of how to correct this issue please respond (whether with using SetLogOnInfo or some other method).

I am using Visual Basic 6 and Crystal Reports 8.5 and am having an issue with getting the SetLogOnInfo method to function with DSR files that have been created from Crystal Reports whose database location is set from a ODBC DSN to a MS SQLServerExpress 5.0 Database.

I realize that this is really old, but the simple solution that comes to mind is to have your app pull the data, then manipulate the data into 1 dataset and then push the dataset to the report...

After years of 'pushing' data to the report, I changed jobs and now have to 'pull' the data...and much prefer the 'push' method.

You probably already found a solution, but thought I might add the comment for future reference.

I have two databases, one current, one archive. Same table, same fields, same everything. I essentially want to pull data from both into the same report as if they are one database. Is there any way I can do this?

Edit: Meant to put this in the crystal X section...apologies...

Edited by Chase - 16 Apr 2013 at 4:42am
