Hello,

I'm new to Crystal and I'm charged with the task of deploying some reports to a customer's server environment. I can configure the reports to run on my local machine. However, I don't know how to configure the reports to be able to run on my customer's environment. My local machine and my customer's environment are both running SQL 2005.

I want the reports to be configured so that my customer doesn't have to enter any database connection information when running the report. I want it to store the connection information somehow and automatically run the report when they want.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
Tony

I know this can be done with Crystal Enterprise.  I am not sure if can be done in a run-time development (never tried).

I have the same issue. We are developing reports for customers using our app, but currently they have to go through the Change Datasource utility everytime I send them a new report.

We are currently only using crystal as a stand alone, and not in Enterprise or in an embedded runtime, though I have a theory if we were to develop a small java or C# app to run these reports, we could have the report pick up the data source from the customer's app, instead of the .rpt file.

Hopefully someone has a better solution in the meantime.
