Hi all,
I am starting a new position in a new job and one of my tasks is to get familiar with Crystal Reports. I am using version 10 (x) and going through a dummies book to do some learning. I am at  a point where I need to turn on the "can grow" option for some column headings. However, that option is grayed out on the Format Text>Common tab. I have looked all over on where to turn this option on, but cannot find it. I would greatly appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction on how to turn this option of for the report.

Thank You,

Flanman

Weird.Never noticed that before.
Apparently auto inserted column headers cannot be set to 'can grow'.

Just add a text box to your report.
Rigth click on it and select Format Text
Go to the Common Tab
The can grow can be set on this.

Thanks for the feedback. So does that mean anytime I use the report wizard the "Can Grow" option will always be grayed out? If so that is a major bummer.

Kind of... The only field that this really effects is the actual text header which likely would never need to grow.
Growing is vertical not horizontal. Static text items (like row headers) would not need to change their height to accomidate larger data strings so no need to set it to grow.
Does that help clarify?

as an FYI I hate the auto-header insert anyway and have it turned off. DB names never make sense to end users so I have to change it anyway. They end up just cluttering the report up until I delete them.
