In gerneral, is it possible to make a formula return an empty string, if an error occurs in the formaula? That way at least you get a report to come out, with maybe one field value wrong, instead of getting nothing. Or even you could put the error message in the field, or somewhere else on the report, at least for debug purpose. So something like On Error Goto Errorhandler in VB.

nope, no error handling that I am aware of.  Need to check/validate values before operating on them avoid errors.
