Getting a runtime error when a date is clicked on a pop-up calendar.

The report has a date parameter so it prompts the user to enter a date. We can type in a date value (in the format YYYY-MM-DD) and the report will run fine, but if we use the pop-up calendar, as soon as a date is clicked, this error shows up:

a runtime error has occurred. do you wish to debug?

line: 636

Error: Unexpected call to method or property access.

This is happening on multiple Win XP machines and all have Crystal Reports XI.

I found KBase Article ID:2184555 pertaining to this issue (in the CR KB):

Article refers to: BusinessObjects Enterprise XI

Symptom

When running an on-demand Crystal report with a date prompt then clicking the pop-up calendar and selecting a date, no date is entered in the value field and the following error message appears:

"Unexpected call to method or property access "

Cause

This is a known issue and has been assigned Track ID # 813332.

Resolution

To work around this issue, either:

1. Close the pop-up calendar.

2. Immediately reopen the calendar.

3. Select the date(s) then click OK to run the report.

-OR-

Enter the dates manually in YYYY-MM-DD format.

------------------------

Unfortunately, this is an unnaceptable solution. Does anyone know of a real resolution?

Is it me, or is Crystal support horrible?

I was able to resolve this issue by replacing the following two files (below) with the ones provided in the promptengine_calendar.zip (available from Crystal Reports Development Department). Otherwise, you can email me if you need it, or if there is a place in this forum where I can upload it, just let me know.

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin\prompt.dll

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\crystalreportviewers115\prompting\js\promptengine_calendar.js

Crystal Reports developers are going to update the KB article to reflect this patch, but it may take a month or two before it is posted.

So, the pop-up calendar runtime issue is resolved now.

Hi;

Is there any chance you could send me the zip file or the two files.  I have installed the business objects for 12 and I'm still sporadically getting the issue.

Thanks
