Hi all

I have asked this question before but never found a solution.

Here is an example of data:

Record 1
Object Category: First Value: Ceramics Second Value: Domestic Equipment

Record 2
Object Category: First Value Domestic Equipment, Second Value: Ceramics

At the moment the Object Catgory field forms part of my grouping hierarchy but where the record contains more than one value in the Object Category field, it is generating a new entry for each iteration of each Object Category value.

I only want the report to refer to the first line of the Object Category table... EG. For Record 1 above I only want it to extract the value "Ceramics" and for Record 2 I only want it to extract the value "Domestic Equipment" ... How can I do this?

Note that this is NOT a record selection formula problem... it is looking within the multi-value field to only use the first value.

Can anyone advise? It seems to be that it is perhaps a matter of telling the report to never look at a record twice (ie. suppress duplication) but I have no idea at what point in the report I can put that in!

thanks
Karen

Hi Dblank

You'll have to clarify the question... while I'm technically skilled I"m not a techhead!

:-D

When I import the data table I choose the value "ODBC RDO" if that's of any help....?
