	the issue is that the evaluation to suppress the GH needs to be done at the Parts GF (GF2)

	that is how you are thinking about it. If *any* record for the customer meets the date condition it means at least one of the groups also meets the condition which gets you the same result without convoluting the process. If all of your groups needed to meet the condition then my suggestion is not valid.

	I See what you are saying but wouldn't that be evaluating the max date for all parts? the problem is that the max date can be 5 days ago but that max date is for one part only. another part can have a max date from last year. not sure if im being confusing. 	that would not be the max date for the group 1. The item with the largest date in any group 2, would be the max...as long as it is in the group 1.

	I think you are trying to use the same condition for both suppression criteria, once at GH1 and once at GH2. Make it simple and use the two different criteria to get to what you want. Suppress GH1 as I was suggesting and GH2 using the max(date,item) criteria.
