Unfortunately, you can't use conditional formatting to suppress a box. One way around this would be to put a box new section and set it to Underlay Following Section (so that it appears under the actual data in the next section). Then use conditional formatting on the section that holds the box.

I was thinking as I was playing around might be easier to get the group of data I want using groups. 
 
Was trying to group with using specified order, then in the Specified order selecting *LA* using is like, and then creating a new group under that doing the same thing so I would eliminate any formulas.
 
Almost working this way as well.  Think I am going to go read the chapters on grouping and see if this will work better for me.
