I'm doing a bar chart with fairly long x-axis labels (11+ chars). I have set the label fontsize to 4. The problem is in trying to get the labels vertical (90 degrees to the axis). The default is 45 degrees and no matter what value I set the rotation to, it reverts to 45! Is this a bug? I know other people have experienced the same problem, but haven't heard a solution.

Well, I came up with my own solution!

The 90 degree setting won't stick unless you make plenty of room for the labels to be oriented that way.

I reduced the size of the chart grid by pulling up the bottom edge a considerable distance and the 90 setting stayed. This was a great breakthru. I suppose you could experiment with how much room you actually need for a given bunch of labels to remain vertical.
