How do you un-insert (ie: take out) a field object from a text object?

Thanks...

Double-click on the text object so that it goes into Edit mode.  Click on the field inside the text object to highlight it.  Delete.

Thank you.  Can I "cut" it out and "paste" it somewhere else or do I have to delete and re-insert it?

Yes, you can cut and paste using Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V.
