I would like to document that tables and the fields they are linked by.  Is there a way to get that information without having to open the report and document it by writing it down for each table?

I think there are third-party tools available that fully document a report. You could try Googling it.

Oh yeah - you can also export to "Report Definition" type to get detailed information about your report.

Under export I only have Report Export Options or Export Report.  Is this a setup issue that I will need to see the Sys Admin?

"Report Definition" is one of the export types that are available when you select Export Report.

When I export the report definintion, all the information about my report is in the definition EXCEPT the links information.

I have a report with about 25 tables in it.  Several of these tables have over 10 joins each.

Short of having to write it all down (print screen won't work, they don't all fit on the screen at once), is there another way to retrieve this information out of Crystal.

I have done a google search thinking there is some 3rd party application that would do this but can't seem to locate one.

Does anyone know a good way to retrieve all the tables, their links between the tables, and the joins they have?

Thanks,
Gilley Estes

Check out the third party tools here:

Also, if you do .net programming, this is not difficult to do using the SDK.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I stumbled across his page during the google search.  I may have found a tool he listed there that might do the trick.  I am downloading it right now.  Will post results if they are successful.

Thanks again,
Gilley

Call me old school but I would think that the product should come with that sort of documentation and should not have to be purchased 3rd party.  Bummer for those of us aren't in the position to purchase any additional software even when we work in IT.

I fully agree with you Sandy.  I would think inside Crystal there SHOULD be a way to do this.
