I have a report created with a date range input parameter. The date range is used by sub-reports which may or may not include all records within the date range. To limit the size of certain sub-reports within that date range I want to pull only the N most recent records.

Input date range is 1/1/2011 to 6/30/2011. For sub-report X I want to include only the 10 most recent dates.

you can create a top n sort report but the easiest way might be to create a conditional supression.
create a formula for record count
then surpress the subreport records based upon the count
